Making Impression

The Bible tells us to impress the commands of God upon our children give them good values.

Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord (Ps.34:11).

Some  ideas:
1. Be available to your children at home and away.
2. Build their self-esteem.
3. Let them hear you pray; see you read the bible; attend church with them; allow them to observe your integrity.
4. Help them to make a decision for Christ.

Make Memories

Making memories, can be fun also. When I was a child every Wednesday my mom baked bread. She also made cinnamon rolls with icing on top. She timed the rolls to come out of the oven when we got home from school so they would still be hot. Yes, on Wednesdays we ran home from school. We had other good memories also.

With my kids, every Mothers Day  we went on a picnic. Every year we tried to go some place different. It was always some place free, lots of exercise of some kind was involved. Hiking, Kite flying, playing friz-bee with one of our dogs. Sometimes me went to a beach where the dog liked  playing in the water, (it was still to cold for us). The youngsters could build sand castles, or walk the beach. We always had a good time.

Now every year in Dec.we have a pizza party. The grandchildren decorate the tree while I make home made doe. They each put their own toppings on before popping it into the oven. We go through 7-9 large pizzas. The older ones help clean up. They come on a Saturday night (parents are not allowed). Sunday morning we all go to church. We go out to lunch, Then Pop-pop and I take then to their homes. What a great two days.

Allow your kids to be a kid first

I was chatting with my niece on face book the other day. I was very concerned of her attitude.  After talking to her a little longer I learned this child was cleaning house and watching her younger bother at the same time. Now we all know this is a hard task as an adult. So here is what I have to say about it.
Kids should be aloud to be Kids.
Yes, chores should be chosen for their age. Every person that lives in the house needs to do chores. I do not want to hear mom and dad go to work. If the child is of school age, they go to school. That is their job. Do you bring your work home with you? Even if you don't they do, they have home work. So they need fun time, just like you. They need rest time, just like you. For some folks doing house work by yourself is boring. Make it a family thing everyone does something and make it fun. Gets done much faster, everyone is happy, and time for play.
